ColourPop It’s A Princess Thing Eyeshadow Palette Review and Swatches

Like most other 90s babies, I freaked out a little bit when ColourPop and Disney Designer announced their collaboration. This collection is inspired by some of the most loved Disney Princesses: Ariel, Jasmine, Belle, Tiana, Snow White, and Cinderella. They sucessfully brought these iconic and classic characters into the 21st century with stunning new clothes and a stunning makeup collection. This collection has classic colors that most of us will reach for often. I love ColourPop, but I always have my doubts with limited edition collaborations of this magnitude. In my experience, ColourPop and DIsney Desiginer did not disappoint.  Keep reading to see the ColourPop It’s A Princess Thing Eyeshadow Palette Review.

It’s  A Princess Thing Palette: Packaging and Shades

The packaging of the It’s A Princess Thing is nothing short of perfection. The design is beautiful, it has a mirror, AND the shade names are actually printed on the inside of the palette. There is one minor issue that bugs me a little bit and that is the outside packaging. It is pretty, but it also shows every single fingerprint. It isn’t a huge deal because I haven’t touched it since taking the pictures for this post, but it is something to keep in mind. The eyeshadows themselves don’t look very exciting. In fact, they look downright boring. However, they are formulated so beautifully that you will find yousrself reaching for them constantly. There are 25 shadows in the ColourPop It’s A Princess Thing Palette.

ColourPop It’s A Princess Thing Palette Review

Now that the swatches are out of the way, lets get to the important stuff. This palette may look pretty and be affordable, but how is the formula. It is amazing, actually. I have been a fan of ColourPop’s powder eyeshadow formula from the get go. However, the eyeshadows in this palette seem to be even better than their previous palettes.

Swatches aren’t always a true indicator of the pigment of an eyeshadow, but in this case, they are pretty spot on.  Beast is the only shade that doesn’t apply as well as it swatches and it isn’t as intense as I would like even with some layering. But in a 15 shade palette, one that is a little “meh” is not too shabby at all. The metallics in this palette are some of the most stunning that I have ever seen. In fact, Enchanted Rose is probably my favorite eyeshadow in my collection right now. They are so buttery and intense!

The ease of application is my favorite thing about this palette. Each shade just applies and blends so well. As a result, you will end up spending less time on your makeup. I can think of very few mattes that are this easy to work with. The mattes are silky smooth and not patchy at all. I have experienced some minor fall out with shades like Beast and Midnight Curfew because of the small glitters in them. However, I do my eyeshadow before anything else, so it isn’t a big deal and the fallout removes easily with a makeup wipe. Another thing I have noticed is that these shadows do crease a little bit on me, even over primer. It is a little annoying, but it happens after quite a few hours of wear. It isn’t a huge deal, but something to be mindful of.

I wasn’t really feeling this collection. It seemed boring to me. But I have to admit that your swatches may have changed my mind. That Juju shade is gorgeous! They all are! Their shadows are great though so it’s not like I wouldn’t get use out of it. Decisions decisions…

At first glance, it does look like a pretty basic collection. But the shadows are so nice! You can’t go wrong with ColourPop.
