My Fall Favorites (Beauty, Books, and Decor)

I am obsessed with fall and everything that comes along with it. Except pumpkin spice everything. I can do without that, although I usually get at least one or two pumpkin spice lattes a year. Fall is the time of year I feel most like myself. The golden, soft light, leaves changing colors, Halloween, etc. I love it all. If I could, I would hibernate in the spring and summer so I could just bypass the allergies, bugs, heat, and humidity. In the spirit of my favorite season, I figure that I would share some things I have been loving lately that are perfect for this time of year. I’ll include beauty products, books, accessories, and some home decor. I’ll start with beauty.

Fall Favorites: Beauty

My favorite fall beauty trend will always be a dark, vampy lip. I don’t wear them a lot, but I am in love with them. A new shade I have recently fallen in love with is the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in London Calling. It is a deep lilac mauve and at times it looks like it has a hint of grey. London Calling has a gorgeous, edgy vibe to it and the formula is great, too.

Another shade I have been loving that isn’t so intense is Scorpio Moon by ColourPop. This is one of the Lux Lipsticks Kathleen Lights and ColourPop released with the Zodiac Collection. It is a plum rose that is more wearable than London Calling, but it still gives off fall vibes.

Now onto some palettes and eye products. First up is the Urban Decay Born to Run Palette. This is an amazing palette for all seasons and all occasions. It has a little bit of everything and the quality is great. A more affordable palette that I have been enjoying is the Maybelline Soda Pop Palette. I love the mix of warm neutrals and purples. You can easily achieve an everyday look or something more bold and smokey. I know this next pick might rub some people the wrong way, but I really enjoy this palette and that is the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Armed and Gorgeous Palette. These tones are just perfection for fall, especially with the addition of that army green.

Wet n Wild released some new loose pigments for fall, and ya’ll, they are gorgeous! I have Celtic Glow (green), Dragon’s Breath (firey copper), and Fire Reign, which is a berry. The pigment is so good and they are very easy to work with. Plus they are insanely affordable. You can see more about these pigments and Wet n Wild’s Fire Dragon vs Ice Dragon Collection here.

Last but not least is one of the coolest products I have come across in a long time. The Wet n Wild Shade Shifting Zombie Blush is new for Halloween and it is multi-functional. As an eyeshadow, it is a beautiful warm brown with a strong teal shift. Doesn’t sound like a pretty blush, right? However when you apply it to the face using a light hand, it gives your skin a beautiful rosy blush. I cannot recommend it enough.

Fall Favorites: Books

I love reading spooky mysteries during the fall. There is just something magical about settling into a comfy chair with a cup of coffee when there is a chill in the air. One of my favorite series of all time is PERFECT for a spooky read, Bonus points because it is a mystery with some horror and romance elements. There is even a slight dash of historical fiction. I am talking about Stalking Jack The Ripper by Keri Maniscalo. I’ve read the first two books twice and I just started Escaping From Houdini. FYI, my fictional crush is Thomas Creswell. *insert heart eye emoji*

All bookworms should be familar with Agatha Christie. She is called The Queen of Mystery for a good reason. And Then There Were None is an absolute must read because it keeps you on your toes and the ending is pretty shocking. I am about to start The Mystery of Chimneys and I have high hopes for it. Other books on my TBR list for fall are The House of Leaves, Coraline, The Night Sister, The Haunting of Hill House, A Discovery of Witches (the Simply Stine bookclub pic for October), The Spellbook of Katrina Van Tassel, and The Phanton of the Opera. I won’t be able to get to all of these in October, so I am shooting for finished Escaping From Houdini, then moving onto A Discovery of Witches followed by The Haunting of Hill House.

 Fall Favorites: Accesories

If you love Halloween, but aren’t necessarily into spending all of the time and money into costumes, festive accesories are the way to go. My first favorite are these front/back earrings inspired by my favorite spooky couple, Jack and Sally. I bought these off of Etsy, but I cannot remember the shops name. However, they have a ton of Jack and Sally earrings that are adorable. Another pair of festive earrings I found are only $3 at Walmart. These little skeletons scream Halloween! They have a ton of options at Walmart from earrings to light up hand bands. Every option is affordable, too. I didn’t get one of the light up head bands, but I did get this pretty black floral one. I have a woodsy makeup look I want to and it fits that perfectly. Plus I think it is appropriate to wear throughout the year.

I have pretty severe hand eczema, so I have to be cautious with my nails in terms of polish and glue. The Kiss imPRESS nails always have my back with their cute designs. Even though these are press on, the do no budge. I can easily get over a weeks worth of wear and I am constantly cooking and cleaning. Kiss has some amazing designs for fall Halloween. The ones pictured here are called Elm Street (the ones with the mummy), Shining (haunted house), and Bright As a Feather. You can find these designs at Walgreens in the seasonal aisle and at Walmart.

Fall Favorites: Decor

I don’t go too crazy with decor, even though I want all of the fall things. I usually just stick to a few small things I can easily place throughout the house. I’m sure you have noticed the fabric leaves and pumpkins I have in my pictures. A pack of those fabric leaves is only 98 cents at Walmart and you  can do whatever you please with them. As for the little pumpkins, they came from Target. The faux succulent is sold by itself, and they have a few different varities, such as a skull. I wanted one I could keep out until winter. The studded pumpkins came in a set of 8 for only $5. There is a mix of white, black, studded, and non-studded.

I also like to use window clings to decorate. They are easy, fun, and affordable. This is something I started doing when my grandma moved in. My kitchen/dining room has a large bay window and my grandma liked to sit in her wheelchair and look out the window while she had a cup of coffee. One day I decided to pick up some window clings for fun and she ended up loving them. This is a our first fall without her and these are just an extra way of keeping her memory alive. Today would have actually been her 80th birthday.
