Milani Hypnotic Lights Eye Topper Review and Swatches

I love all things shimmer, and one of my favorite products are the Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows. When I saw someone post about the new Milani Hypnotic Lights Eye Toppers being available in store, the hunt began immediately. I finally found them at Walgreens and bought three shades. The Milani Hypnotic Lights Eye Toppers are only $11, so they are half the price of the Stila Glitter & Glow shadows. For now, I have three shades: Luster Light, Beaming Light, and Prismatic Light.

Milani Hypnotic Lights Eye Toppers Shades and Pigment

Milani released five shades and I have three of them, but I plan on getting the other two soon. Luster Light is my favorite. It is a rose gold with a champagne reflect and it has pink and gold glitter throughout. If you want full opacity and pigment, you will have to layer it up more so than the other shades. Beaming Light is lavender with a periwinkle reflect. Even though this is a lighter color, the pigment and shimmer does not disappoint. The last shade I have is Prismatic Light, which has the most color payoff of the three. This shade is teal with a purple reflect.

Milani Hypnotic Lights Eye Toppers Formula and Application

The formula of these eye toppers is amazing. They can add the slightest touch of shimmer or they can be fully opaque with some layering. The only shade I have a little bit of an issue with is Luster Light because it applies more unevenly than the other  two. As long as I am careful, I can fix it. The dry down time is perfect. They don’t dry down instantly, so you have plenty of time to apply and blend them as you see fit. However, they dry quickly enough that you don’t have to sit there with your eyes closed for five minutes. Once they dry, they aren’t going anywhere. They lock into place and don’t budge until I take them off. I also like that they don’t feel crunchy or flakey like some liquid eyeshadows. I haven’t experienced any fallout or transfer from the Milani Shadow Toppers, which is pretty impressive.

In terms of application, I find it better to apply them with my fingers in a tapping motion. They don’t look patchy or uneven when applied that way. It is also easier to control the amount of shimmer you want.

In the picture below, I did very sheer swatches so you can see what a light layer of shimmer looks like.

Rating and Overall Impression of the Milani Hypnotic Lights Eye Toppers

I give the Milani Hypnotic Lights Shadow Toppers an A. They are an amazing drugstore find and a nice dupe for the Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadows. You can use them sheer or they can be built up if you want an ultra glittery look. They do best when applied with your fingers or a brush and they stay on all day without flaking. For right at $11, they are a great alternative to more expensive options. I think they are definitely worth trying out and I hope they end up expanding the shade selection someday.
