Wet n Wild Flights of Fancy Collection for Summer 2018

Wet n Wild has gotten into the habit of releasing beautiful limited edition collections based on a certain theme. Each collection has been anything but boring, but this one is particularly eye-catching.  Wet n Wild is one of my favorite drugstore beauty brands, so I always make it a point to pick up a few things from any new collection they release. The Flights of Fancy Collection wasn’t supposed to be released in store until later this month, but some Walgreens locations already have it. You can also order the collection online.

This collection includes quite a few products: three eyeshadow quads, three baked blushes, a primer water, two lip scrubs, a blush brush, three liquid eyeliners, five lip glosses, and six nail polishes. I’m pretty sure the nail polishes are only available on Wet n Wild’s site. The colors in this collection were inspired by the Allen’s and Costa Hummingbirds, and when you buy the collection box for $34, part of the proceeds go to the Los Angeles Audubon Society. Specifically, the money will go towards restoring this hummingbird’s habitat. This collection box has everything from the collection except the nail polishes and one of the lip scrubs.

I didn’t buy everything, but I did pick up a couple of the palettes, the primer water, and a blush.

Eyeshadow Palettes ($2.99 each)

There are three total quads in this collection: Stop Ruffling My Feathers, Flock Party, and Hasta La Costa Baby. The names they come up with is half the fun. Each palette has a matte transition shade (thank you, Wet n Wild) and three metallic shades. I bought Stop Ruffling My Feathers and Flock Party, which are the most wearable of the palettes.

If you love a copper eye look, Stop Ruffling My Feathers will be right up your alley. The matte transition shade is a rose taupe, the crease shade is a metallic copper, the lid shade is a metallic pink with hints of gold, and the brow bone shade is a shimmering light pink.

Flock Party is a little bit more bold. The transition shade is a matte peach and it also features a metallic pink, gold, and pinky champagne.

I’m usually not a fan of using metallic shades in the crease, but in this case, it works. The formula of these shadows is really good. The color payoff is there, but they are not so pigmented that you will have a hard time working with them. They also blend really easily and stay on well. I’m definitely a fan of these.

Blushes ($4.99 each)

In addition to the three eyeshadows, Wet n Wild launched three new baked blush shades called Don’t Flutter Yourself, Hummingbird Type, and Dare to Soar. These blushes have pearl pigments, so they will give your skin a beautiful summer time glow in addition to a hint of color. I’m not big on blush, but I did buy Dare To Soar, which is a bright, bold fuchsia. I will be 100% honest and say I mainly got it because of the hummingbird on it. I don’t like the way this looks on me, but I do think it is a beautiful product. The formula is great and if you have medium to deeper skin, I think it will look beautiful on you. This blush does have shimmer in it, so if you prefer matte blushes, this one isn’t for you.

Primer Water ($4.99)

The second I saw this primer water, my mind immediately went to Smashbox’s Primer Water. I have never tried that one, so I cannot make any comparisons. I don’t really see anything too special about this. I don’t like the smell and the mist is actually too fine. I feel like it doesn’t saturate my skin enough. I’ve used it twice and I can’t tell where it does anything special. If there is one product to skip in this collection, this primer water is my pick.

Overall, Wet n Wild’s Flights of Fancy Collection is a win for me. I know I don’t have everything from the collection, but I have enough to where I feel confident recommending it. I think the eyeshadow quads are definitely worth checking out if you can find them. You can find this collection at Walgreens and online at Wet n Wild’s site.. I am not sure if Ulta will be getting this collection, but I will update you as soon as I find out. I will be posting looks on my Instagram account using these products, so be sure to follow me on there.
